Paromita Bardoloi is an artist who uses words and stories to spread awareness and raise pertinent questions. She began her journey almost 15 years back in college as a writer in Miranda House, University of Delhi. She has been consistently writing on gender equality. Her work has been published on various dailies, including Quint, NatGeo, Women’s Web, Outlook and so on. She is also the co-founder of the street theatre group “Aatish,”in 2011. The group has mainly dealt with girl child education, health and empowerment. Over the years the group has travelled across India including, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand and Chennai. These circles have helped many to open up their life stories that has not only made them feel accepted but have helped hundred others find inspirations. This year, as Covid19 has taken over the world she has started an online circle, “Let’s Huddle, India” where every Saturday people across the country get a chance to talk to each other in a group. Till now 24 such meetings have been held, very successfully. These circles have helped many to open up their life stories that has not only made them feel accepted but have helped hundred others find inspirations. She is also a storyteller and a slam poet, having performed in Delhi, Ludhiana and Guwahati. Last year in April, Paromita founded the letter writing group, “Letter From A Stranger, India.” In this initiative strangers write letters to each others. Till date 100s of letters have been written globally, making a difference in many lives. Her work has been profiled in many places including, The Logical Indian, The Better India, Women’s Web, Hindustan Times and so on. Right now, she is also mentoring women and men to lead a better life. Her work has been recognized by many groups and organizations including Women and Child Welfare Ministry, Government of India. She is writing her first book.
