Anisha Singh

National Vice President, Sanitation & Hygiene Council

Born in a small town at the foothills of the Himalayas, and having led the hillside boarding life, it was just fate that landed Anisha in gigantic Mumbai for the first time to pursue a Business Management Degree in Communication from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). And that was the start of a very interesting professional journey that has spanned industries, sectors, geographies and thematic areas. Having worked in high-paced, high-growth industry environments on the one hand and on-ground development project implementation agencies on the other, Anisha brings together the professionalism of the corporate sector and the sensitivity of the social sector, essential to successfully deliver sustainable development mandaes. Being a part of the development sector, networking and relationships with the relevant stakeholders like civil society organisations, multilateral and bilateral agencies, industry forums, government and government agencies and other stakeholders are a natural corollary. She was engaged for two crucial years, with the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, as a part of the 12- member team at the Central Government Level to help rural India achieve Open Defecation Free Status. She is currently working with BBC Media Action, leading their water and sanitation programme, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Having implemented the largest behaviour change communication programme in the world, the Swachh Bharat Mission, along with the Prime Minister’s team, Anisha brings first hand, practical thoughts on the Water and Sanitation Sector in the country.
