Dr. Roma Kumar’s success-expertise is a rare fusion of intellect, passion and compassion. With a career of over 30 years dedicated to the field of Psychology and Mental Health, Dr. Kumar’s contributions are exemplary. She is a Senior Consultant Psychologist at the Institute of Child Health at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi since 1991 and at Max Super Specialty Hospital Gurgaon since April 2012. She is the Vice Chairperson (Psychology) at Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. She is the Chief Child Psychologist with Mom’s Belief-an organization that does home based neurodevelopmental intervention programs from June 2017. She is Partner and Co-founder at Emotionally, which is an online therapy program. She has been recognized by various communities and associations for her influence and growth in the field of psychology in India and has a legacy of contributions and accolades collected in service to the field of Psychology. She works with organizations, teams, families, couples, and individuals to foster improved communication and solution-based strategies that allow positive outcomes for many. She has devoted much of her career to helping people find the necessary mental health resources for their needs. She has been a very bright child with an explosive sense of curiosity. Her early interest in uncovering the truth right from first year of college became a lifelong passion through her therapeutic practice. In her practice, she tries to help people to accept life as it is and to reach peace of mind. She has been associated with Delhi Council for Child Welfare, along with various central and state education boards. She has been a visiting faculty in NIPCCD (Delhi) and Amity University. Dr. Kumar has worked closely with Indira Gandhi National Open University [IGNOU] in developing curriculum for its distance learning B.ed program in learning disabilities. Dr. Kumar has set up the Child Development Clinic and a High Risk New Born Clinic at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 1994. She has also set up 3 special schools---2 in Delhi and one in Rewari. She has set up a resource room and an integrated section at a school at Moradabad. She is Chairperson of Association for Development of Multiply Handicapped Children. She is Secretary of Action Dyslexia Delhi-Beyond Education, Secretary-Vatsalya Education and Cultural Society. She is a Life Member of many National and International Scientific Organizations working for Child and Adolescent Mental Health. She has a number of National and International research publications to her credit. Dr. Kumar has been associated with various schools and has been doing extensive work with children and adolescents and families on many growth and developmental issues. She has set up learning centers, admission procedures and camps at these schools. She has done extensive work in the field of developmental disabilities, child mental health, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, parenting, sexuality education, stress management, ADHD, learning disabilities and behavior problems among many more. She has been actively working on creating general awareness and sensitivity towards cognitive and emotional needs of children. In school settings, she is involved in creating system-wide supports to promote academic achievement and emotional growth among children. She conducts seminars and workshops on parent as well as teacher training on various mental health issues. Dr. Kumar has conducted many Workshops and Training Courses For Teachers, Professionals, And Parents covering various issues pertaining to Learning Disabilities – Awareness, Intervention And Advocacy. She has been an integral part of Teaching and Research programs at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. She has been a Co-guide to many students of DNB Paediatrics in the field of Child Clinical Psychology. Mentoring is a critical part of her job as a Psychologist. And it's a job she does well. She has mentored dozens of students who have gone on to become successful in academia. During the course of her career she has trained, supervised and guided numerous Pediatricians, Psychiatrists and Psychologists. Every year she trains many undergraduate and post-graduate students from various Universities within India as well as from other countries. They come to her for their internship in the field of Child Clinical Psychology. She has impacted many lives, shape the way they think, and has acted as experienced guide as they journey into uncharted territories. She does regular therapy and counseling sessions for various psychosocial problems for children as well as adults. She consistently achieves stellar success across her varied interventions and consultations, especially with many corporates. Dr. Kumar has been active in print and electronic media and has been featured in prominent scientific national and international journals, in textbooks of Pediatrics and Psychology, newspapers, magazines as well as on Radio and TV Channels. She has undergone training on various mental health problems for children and adolescents at Toronto, Canada; San Diego, California, USA. She is Founder Director of SAKSHAM, which is Child and Adolescent Guidance Clinic and caters to all mental health problems of adults also. She also does family and couples counseling. She has done her Psychology (Hons.) from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, Master’s in Applied Psychology from South Campus, Delhi University and PhD from Delhi University.
