Krishna Sarma is a distinguished lawyer and policy expert, specializing in corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and the intersection of law and government policy. Enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 1993, she began her career as a corporate litigator before founding Corporate Law Group, a boutique multi-disciplinary law firm in New Delhi in 1998. Her legal career includes serving as Additional Advocate General for the State of Assam in the Supreme Court of India (2011–2016) and Standing Counsel for Assam (2001–2016), where she handled constitutional matters and inter-state boundary disputes.
Her contributions extend beyond litigation into shaping national and international policy. She has undertaken landmark assignments such as a 10-country comparative patent law study for the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (1999), drafting sub-legislation for the Protection of Plant Variety & Farmer’s Rights Act (2003), and preparing regulatory frameworks for the proposed International Financial Services Centre in SEZs. With academic foundations in History from Miranda House and Law from the University of Delhi, she further specialized in IP Law and Licensing at Franklin Pierce Law Center, USA, and gained international experience at Thelen, Reid & Priest LLP in Washington DC, focusing on the energy sector.
Recognized among India’s Most Trusted Corporate Lawyers (India Corporate Counsel Association, 2017) and listed in the Top 100 Powerful Women in Law (World IP Forum, 2017), Krishna continues to influence both corporate and social spheres. She serves as Independent Director at Procter & Gamble Health Limited, Director at Mango Cancer Care Foundation, and is a member of the CII National Committee on Legal Services (2025–26). Beyond the boardroom, she champions social impact as Director of Meera Women Weavers Association and Convenor of AssamFloods & Axom: New Horizons, reflecting her commitment to both legal excellence and community empowerment.
