Lijy Thomas Varghese is a seasoned Risk & Compliance Product Leader with over two decades of experience in financial services, specializing in risk platform transformation, regulatory program delivery, and product-led service design. As Vice President at J.P. Morgan, she drove end-to-end product ownership for key second line of defense (2LOD) risk and compliance platforms, including business and legal entity risk assessments, taxonomy governance, qualitative risk appetite, monitoring and testing, and review & challenge tooling. Her focus has consistently been on building structured, scalable, and governance-aligned platforms that enhance oversight, regulatory traceability, and thematic insights.

Her leadership has extended to managing cross-functional global teams and integrating early-stage LLM capabilities into risk tooling, enabling automation that reduces manual overhead and improves reporting quality. With a strong background in designing and delivering enterprise-scale solutions, Lijy has played a pivotal role in transforming risk and compliance landscapes to meet evolving regulatory expectations. Her expertise lies in bridging risk management with technology innovation, ensuring organizations remain resilient and compliant in dynamic environments.

Recently, Lijy joined ANZ as a Data Risk Services Lead, where she continues to operate at the intersection of risk, data, and compliance. In this role, she is focused on enabling service-based risk capabilities and aligning them with emerging regulatory and control frameworks. Her career reflects a commitment to structured governance, innovation-driven compliance, and empowering organizations to navigate risk with confidence and clarity.
