Ramanjit Kaur is an International award-winning Theatre and Film Actor, Director, Art activist and Artpreneur, who is known for her innovations in the world of art. National President of Arts Leadership Council, Women Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) and Founder of The Creative Arts Academy, India, she has constantly worked for bringing out the voice of women, creating visibility and identity, facilitating women empowerment through Arts.
She is a graduate in Music, Dance, Fine Arts and English Literature, and a gold medalist in Masters in Music (Inst.). She started training in Theatre under guru Padmashree Neelam Mansingh Chowdhry at the age of 15 and has played the lead for most of her productions. She has also trained in the UK at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. In France, she worked with Ariane Mnouchkine at Theatre du Soleil and in Italy, with Firenza Guidi. She has performed at Festivals in India and represented India as a performer and director worldwide, including UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Dubai, Pakistan, Australia, Uzbekistan, and Sri Lanka.
She founded The Creative Arts in Kolkata, India in 2002 and created The Creative Arts Academy in 2020 to provide training to children and adults in Theatre, Music, Dance, Creative Writing, Communication, Arts Management and others. In 2011, she created TCA’s All-Women Theatre troupe. The group has received National Awards and also travels internationally. Her productions like The Dice of Desire (2019), Beyond Borders (2017), Baawre mann ke sapne (2012) and others deal with community and gender sensitive issues which won several awards and toured globally. Her group focuses on engaging children and adults in arts, implementing cutting edge techniques and grounded research methods for encouraging inter-disciplinary interactions, artists collaborations locally and globally to develop original works. She created a three-floored arts space in 2022, in Kolkata – India, to facilitate a safe space for artists to discuss, share, explore and create.
