I am a designer and textile revivalist dedicated to preserving and reinventing the rich silk heritage of Assam. My work focuses on developing sustainable, niche, and futuristic yet deeply rooted heritage products crafted from the exquisite silks of the region. Collaborating closely with rural weavers, skilled artisans, and yarn makers in the local clusters of Northeast Assam, I strive to create collections that reflect both cultural authenticity and contemporary appeal.
For the past 12 years, I have independently designed and developed my collections, transforming ideas into tangible pieces without external support. I run my own boutique, Doyna, in Guwahati along with three additional stores, and my creations are marketed through multiple retail platforms across India and internationally. Through these spaces, we also provide a platform for women entrepreneurs—supporting talent in weaving, designing, dyeing, stitching, and marketing—thereby strengthening the ecosystem of women-led craftsmanship.
My mission extends beyond design. I am deeply committed to empowering rural artisans and preserving the legacy of underrepresented Eastern Himalayan weaving communities. Our products are available both online and through retail, with the intent of highlighting the unique stories and skills of the people behind the craft.
I am also actively engaged with the ASEAN network, where we are set to lead programs across 10 ASEAN countries to promote Northeast Indian textiles and heritage on a global platform. I strongly believe in building a sustainable chain that nurtures artisans, revives traditional techniques, and showcases the finest creations from the region. My work supports the #SaveMyLoom initiative and champions the Vocal About Local mission to bring our heritage to the world—an effort that thrives through collective support and collaboration.
I am the former National Vice President of WICCI (Women’s India Chamber of Commerce & Industry), and I currently serve as the WICCI Vice President, India–ASEAN Business Council, as well as the State Chair of G100.
