Dr. Amit Kaur Puri is a distinguished Ethnobotanist, Environmentalist, author, and bilingual poetess, widely recognized for her pioneering contributions to sustainable living and environmental conservation. She serves as the National President of the Environment & Sustainable Living Council at WICCI (Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry) and is the Founder & President of AKP Healing India, an organization dedicated to the principles of Environment, Education, and Empowerment (the Triple E’s).

Holding a Ph.D. in Botany, Dr. Puri’s doctoral research focused on the nutritional aspects of unconventional foods consumed by Gond and Korku tribes of the forests of Vidarbha, Maharashtra. Her work reflects a deep commitment to documenting traditional knowledge systems and understanding the intricate relationship between plants, culture, food, and medicine.

Born in the ancient and culturally rich city of Varanasi, Dr. Puri demonstrated academic excellence from an early age, securing merit positions in her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Botany. Despite early marriage and societal expectations, she pursued her academic ambitions with determination, traveling extensively across forest terrains of Vidarbha to conduct ethnobotanical research.

Her professional journey spans multiple roles, including Project Manager at Apeejay Stya University and Advisory Board Member at the Global Literary Festival Noida. She has also undertaken postdoctoral research focusing on women’s education and its impact on social, economic, and health outcomes.

An ardent advocate of sustainable living, Dr. Puri has conceptualized and developed innovative ecological models such as Nakshatra Gardens, Rashi Vans, sacred forests, vertical forests, herbal and medicinal gardens, and the unique “Green Ganesha” initiative. Through AKP Healing India, she has led large-scale plantation drives, seed bombing initiatives, and environmental awareness campaigns.

She is also a passionate writer and speaker, contributing regularly to platforms like Grehlakshmi, where she promotes environmental awareness and natural healing. Her work extends beyond ecology into women empowerment, skill development, and sustainable livelihoods, with ongoing research on the impact of educational policies on women in Mewat, Haryana.

Dr. Puri firmly believes that empowering individuals through education and skills is the key to sustainable progress. Her philosophy—“Let’s be green sensitive rather than plant blind”—captures her vision of mindful coexistence with nature.

Her journey has been shaped by the values instilled by her parents, the support of her family, and her unwavering inner resolve. Honored with numerous awards globally, she considers her greatest achievement to be “the smiles on faces and a greener Earth with cleaner air.”

A true embodiment of resilience and transformation, Dr. Amit Kaur Puri inspires others with her belief:
“Dedication, consistency, and hard work never fail. Do not limit yourself, be limitless.”
